Senate asks service chiefs to resign


The Senate, on Tuesday 21st June, 2020, asked the country’s service chiefs to step aside owing to the rising insecurity in the country.

This followed a motion by Senator Ali Ndume (APC, Borno), who expressed concern over the voluntary retirement of over 200 personnel of the Nigerian army.

The Senate asked its joint committee on security to investigate the cause of the dissertions.

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan said though the army was trying its best to secure the country, the effort was not enough.
