Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been arrested after an altercation with random supporters of rival clubs who taunted him, though some reports say it was as a result of insults to his sister.
Maguire was arrested and arraigned in court where he pleaded not guilty to charges against him. He spent two nights in custody before he was arraigned in court.
He risks being handed a jail term, though there will be an option of a fine.
The club through its spokesperson made the following statement, “Following the appearance in court today we note the adjournment of the case to allow the legal team to consider the case file”
“Harry has pleaded not guilty. It would be inappropriate for the player or club to comment further while the legal process takes its course,” he added.
