Kano State Government has cancelled all traditional Sallah festivities to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir in the state.
This was made known by the state’s commissioner of information Mallam Muhammad Garba at a press briefing after the State Executive Council meeting.
The decision was part government’s effort to consolidate on the successes achieved in the fight against COVID-9 pandemic.
He said, while congregational prayers will be allowed, they would be done under strict observance of covid19 prevention protocols and supervised by government officials.
All the five Emirs in the state would attend Eid prayers in their respective domains in motor vehicle, and all fanfare associated with the event like visitations are cancelled.
Government would provide safety materials including face masks and hand sanitizers. There would also be strict observance of social distancing at the praying grounds.
